Alois Henggeler

Alois Henggeler (born April 8, 1807 in Unterägeri ; † February 15, 1888 there , Catholic , entitled to live in Unterägeri) was a Swiss entrepreneur and liberal politician .

biography

Alois Henggeler was born on April 8, 1807 in Unterägeri as the son of the blacksmith and interpreter Josef Franz Henggeler (1761–1820) and Uhr, who was born in Menzing , Germany. Alois Henggeler first completed an apprenticeship as a farrier before going on a long journey .

As a result, he founded the first spinning mill in Canton Zug in Unterägeri in 1834 with his brothers Wolfgang and Franz Josef, his uncle Johann Jakob and his brother-in-law Klemens Iten . Henggeler took over the construction management as well as the technical operation. The socially committed entrepreneur set up a support fund for his workers. Henggeler also acted as a justice of the peace and between 1854 and 1865 as a liberal councilor .

Alois Henggeler, who was married to Josepha, the daughter of the Oberäger councilor Joseph Anton Iten, died on April 15, 1888 just before the age of 81 in Unterägeri. He was a cousin of the liberal politician Meinrad Henggeler .
