The Klettgau-Gymnasium Tiengen (short: KGT ) is the general high school in the city of Tiengen. In addition to a scientific profile , a language profile is also offered.

Around 860 students are taught in the grammar school, the majority of whom come from the eastern district, for example from the Wutach Valley, from the Klettgau or from Tiengen itself. Since the 2004/2005 school year, the Abitur has been compulsory after twelve years . The Langenstein Stadium serves as a sports facility .

history

The history of the Klettgau-Gymnasium began in 1968 with the construction of the main building. The first classes were taught in the 1969/1970 school year. The opening of the Klettgau-Gymnasium relieved the Hochrhein-Gymnasium Waldshut , which was overly stressed at that time . The first headmaster to be mentioned was Franz Josef Schrenk, his deputy was Ernst Huber. Huber held this position until 1991, when he was replaced by Georg Lutz, who in turn was replaced by Peter Budde in 1997. A change in the school management took place in 1985 when Günther Faller took over the post from Franz Josef Schrenk. In 2005 he was replaced by Bernd Crößmann, who in 2015 was the current headmaster, Dr. Manfred Römersperger followed. A new building was soon necessary due to the increasing number of students. The old pavilion was built out of emergency. However, this was later demolished, more precisely in 1994. Construction materials that are harmful to health are the reason. The new pavilion was completed on time for the 1994/1995 school year. The planning of the striking extension began in 1996 and it was inaugurated in 1998. Since July 13, 2013 there is also a cafeteria at the grammar school . There is now significantly more space for a better lunch menu and the various working groups.

Profiles

The Sextans are currently starting with English. From year 6 onwards, French or Latin are added as a second foreign language, and a bilingual course (English) is also offered. In class 8, a decision must be made between science and technology (NwT) or a third foreign language (French or Spanish). There is also a wide network of working groups.

SMV / class representative

There is also an SMV at the Klettgau-Gymnasium Tiengen. This consists of 12 students from grades 9 to 12 and a head girl or a head girl. The SMV fulfills important tasks at the KGT such as organizing the regionally known school balls, as well as a cultural month, which recently attracted a total of around 1000 visitors to the Klettgau grammar school. With the teaching staff and the management, the SMV provides one of the three most important bodies at the Klettgau-Gymnasium. Representatives of the SMV are invited to every school conference and they inform the students about what is happening at the KGT.

Partner schools and exchange programs

The Klettgau-Gymnasium operates an annual exchange with Blois on the Loire . The exchange is possible for all students learning French. The focus of the student exchange is the personal encounter with France. Accommodation in families promotes personal contact with the hosts and enables insights into the everyday life of our neighbors. The program is rounded off by visits to the exchange partner’s lessons, joint activities by the German and French students and numerous excursions to the region and to Paris. In addition, there are corresponding exchange programs with Poland and the USA at the Klettgaugymnasium.

Wind class

Since 2004, the KGT has also had a wind class for the 5th and 6th grades and optionally also for the 7th grade. Through cooperation with the Southern Black Forest Music School, these students are able to learn a wind instrument.

School newspaper

The school newspaper of the Klettgau-Gymnasium Tiengen is called Phoenix and appears every six months.
