Kleusheim

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The community of Kleusheim (flat: Kleismen) existed from 1808 to 1969 as an independent community. On July 1, 1969, it was incorporated into the city of Olpe . As early as 1701 (1715) the parish of Kleusheim consisted of the three villages Altenkleusheim (flat: Alenkeismen), Neuenkleusheim (flat: Niggenkleismen) and Rehringhausen (flat: Rehrkusen). Before that, Altenkleusheim and Neuenkleusheim together formed the peasantry Kleusheim, while Rehringhausen with Stachelau , Lütringhausen and Siele belonged to the peasantry Rehringhausen.

Kleusheim is west of the Bigge - Sieg and Bigge - Lenne watershed . Until 1814, this ridge was also the state border of the Duchy of Westphalia opposite Nassau-Siegen . This border, the " Kölsche Heck ", thus formed a national, religious and linguistic border . The Bigge-Lenne watershed also separates the parish of Kleusheim from the parish of Rahrbach. Each of the three villages lies in its own valley. Altenkleusheim is separated from Neuenkleusheim by a ridge formed by Stübelhagen (499 m), Eichhagen and Hohenhagen (482 m). Rehringhausen lies further north and is separated from Neuenkleusheim by the Kruberg (505 m), Engelsberg (588 m) and Hesselberg. Geographically, Kleusheim is located in the Olper hill country, which geologically belongs to the Devonian formations.

According to A. Hörnberger, the oldest settlements in Rehringhausen are likely to be before 800 AD. Altenkleusheim was first mentioned in a document in 1383 in the Latin directory of the incomes, goods and rights of the churches to heroes (parish archives of Heroes). The prefixes old and new seem to have appeared towards the end of the Middle Ages and are therefore not useful for determining the age of the villages.
