Klezmer Juice is an American music group from Los Angeles , California . The group plays klezmer , a Jewish folk music tradition, but with modern elements. The group interpreted the song Hava Nagila on the soundtrack to the comedy film The Wedding Crashers (2005).
Band history
The band was formed by clarinetist Gustavo Bulgach, who is essentially the only constant member of the group. In 2004 Klezmer Juice released their first album Actions Speak Louder Than Words in self-distribution and caught the attention of the label Arc Music , which signed the group and reissued their album as Klezmer Juice in 2005 with some bonus tracks and changed artwork . In the same year the film The Wedding Crashers was released . Klezmer Juice's version of Hava Nagila was added to the soundtrack. The band was considered the house band of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles for two years and is a successful live band that sold out the Los Angeles Music Center and the Redcat Disney Theater , among others . For two years they also played regularly in the Hollywood Bowl's summer program , where they also offered workshops .
Jewfro followed in 2008 and Klezmer Juice 2: Yiddish Lidele in 2009 .
