Klimsch (family)

The German Klimsch family came from Česká Lípa and produced eight visual artists over three generations (1812–1960) . Seven family members were entrusted with the management of the Klimsch & Co family business for five generations .

Entrepreneurial family

Ferdinand Karl Klimsch was the founder of the family business Klimsch-lithographische Kunst-Anstalt in Frankfurt am Main in 1858 , which operated as Klimsch & Co from 1869 . In 1864 he handed over the management to his son Karl Ferdinand Klimsch. In the third generation of the family, the company was run from 1899 together by Eugen Klimsch (1872–1945) and his brother-in-law Peter Schumacher until 1939. In the fourth generation, the joint management of the company was the responsibility of the sons of Peter Schumacher, Karl Schumacher (until 1973) and Ernst Schumacher (until 1977). The businessman Helmut Holz, a grandson of Eugen Klimsch (1872–1945), joined the management in 1974 and was the fifth generation to manage the family business until the business operations were closed in 1996.
