The Bad Hersfeld Clinic is a hospital in Bad Hersfeld with the catchment area of ​​East and Central Hesse. It is the academic teaching hospital of the Justus Liebig University in Gießen and the University of Fulda .

The house has 577 beds and treats 20,000 inpatients and 40,000 outpatients annually. It employs 1,400 people (including 142 doctors) and offers 130 training positions.

Bad Hersfeld Clinic

The hospital was inaugurated in 1872 and was originally located on Friedloser Strasse . It initially had 50 beds and was expanded continuously in 1927, 1937 and later. In 1956 the construction of a new hospital on the Wendeberg began; it was put into operation in 1959 and finally completed in 1961. The "Teaching Institute for Health Professions" was established in 1971. Several extensions were made in the 1980s, including a new functional wing and a ward block. The new building of the psychiatry was inaugurated in 2004. The south ward building was opened in 2008.
