Espira-de-l'Agly Monastery
Kloster Espira-de-l'Agly was from 1852 to 1904, a Trappist nuns - monastery in Espira-de-l'Agly in Rivesaltes , France in the diocese of Perpignan .
history
A donation in 1852 allowed the Lyon-Vaise Abbey to found the Notre Dame des Anges in Espira-de-l'Agly (priory in 1860, inauguration of the church in 1883). In 1904 the successful monastery had to give way to the law on the separation of church and state (with the dissolution of the religious orders) under public protest and went (after a short stay in Alella ) for repopulation in the Spanish monastery Herrera . In 1923 it was relocated to France by repopulating the Échourgnac monastery . In Espira-de-l'Agly, the monastery buildings now house a school that took over the monastery name ( Collège Notre Dames des Anges ).
