history

The Cistercian Abbey of La Grâce-Notre-Dame (also: Notre-Dame de la Grâce , "Madonna of Grace", Latin: Gratia Domina Nostra ) was founded in 1223 not far from the Cistercian Abbey of Le Reclus, southeast of Montmirail on the Petit Morin River in Courbetaux and existed as such until 1464 Then the place was settled by a Cistercian priory , which was directly subordinate to the Cîteaux monastery. In 1791 it was dissolved by the French Revolution and the buildings were dismantled. Today the names of the corridors, farmsteads and streets "Bois de la Grâce", "Ferme de la Grace" and "Chemin de la Grace" are reminiscent of the monastery.
