The monastery Lanvaux (Notre-Dame de Lanvaux; Landavallis) is a former Cistercian abbey in the town of Bieuzy-Lanvaux in Morbihan department , region Brittany , in France . It is located around 26 km northwest of Vannes in the Loc valley on the edge of the Forêt de Lanvaux.
history
That of Alain, the Count of Lanvaux. founded in 1138 as a daughter monastery belonged monastery of Kloster Bégard , the daughter of self Monastery L'Aumône was the filiation of Cîteaux Abbey to. The founding abbot was a Rwandan, the later Bishop of Vannes, who died in 1177. In 1255 the abbey, which was always insignificant, was placed under the Langonnet monastery. In 1528 the Coming was introduced, in 1661 the stricter observance (from which the Trappists later emerged). During the French Revolution , the monastery came to an end in 1790 or 1791. The buildings were sold to a dealer from Lorient in 1791 . A glass factory, a forge and, from 1938, a chicken farm were then set up. There is currently a rural pension (gîte rural).
Buildings and plant
In particular, the building of the commander's abbots, the walls of the choir of the church and the foundation walls of the transept and nave, which were renovated towards the end of the 17th century, have been preserved.
