The Lieudieu Monastery (Locus dei) is a former Cistercian abbey in France . It was in the commune of Beauchamps in the Somme department , Hauts-de-France , around 12 km northwest of Blangy-sur-Bresle , in the Bresle valley.

history

Founded in 1191 by Bernard de Saint-Valery, Lord of Gamaches , and his wife Eléonore, the monastery was a subsidiary of the Foucarmont monastery . Like this, it belonged to the filiation of the Clairvaux Primary Abbey via the Savigny Monastery . The abbey owned the estates of Huqueleu in Aigneville , of Nifrigny in Ault , of Jupigny in Saint-Aignan in Normandy and of La Haye in Gamaches. The monastery is believed to have been closed in the French Revolution in 1790 or 1791.

Buildings and plant

18th century plan

Various buildings from the 18th century that are now used as a riding stables (Domaine du Lieu-Dieu) have been preserved. The organ of the monastery church has found its way into the church of Le Tréport , further pieces of equipment are in Incheville and Gamaches.
