The Monchy Monastery (also: Mouchy / Mouchi ) was from 1237 to 1791 a monastery first of the Cistercian Sisters , from 1460 the Cistercian Sisters and from 1671 again the Cistercian Sisters in Monchy-Humières , Département Oise , Diocese of Beauvais in France.

history

Anne-Louise de Crevant-d'Humières (1658–1710), Reform Abbess

A local nobleman founded the Cistercian convent (later abbey ) Notre-Dame sur Aronde or Notre-Dame de Monchy (Latin: Monchiacum Petrosum , hence also: Monchy-le-Perreux , Monchy-le-Pereux or Monchy- in 1237 northwest of Compiègne on the Aronde river ) le-Preux ). In 1460 the nuns were replaced by monks from the Ourscamp monastery, making Monchy the priory of Ourscamp. This situation was put to an end in 1671 by Marshal Louis de Crevant, duc d'Humières (who lived in Castle Monchy-Humières) by restoring the Cistercian abbey under the leadership of his sister Elisabeth de Crevant d'Humières (abbess from 1671 to 1684), followed by his Daughter Anne-Louise de Crevant d'Humières (1684–1710, born 1658), whom the Benedictine Michel Félibien (1665–1719) praised as Reform Abbess. In 1791, the French Revolution led to the abbey being dissolved. The elements Couvent and Abbaye in various street and settlement names are reminiscent of the former monastery in Monchy-Humières .
