Ubexy Monastery
The Ubexy Monastery (Latin Abbatia Beatae Mariae de Sancto Joseph ) was a French Trappist abbey in Ubexy , near Charmes , diocese of Saint-Dié from 1841 to 2012 .
history
Notre-Dame de Saint-Joseph monastery in Ubexy (spoken: Üpsi ) was founded as a priory in 1841 by the Sainte-Catherine monastery (at the gates of Laval , today: La Coudre monastery ) (abbey from 1874). The nuns ran a farm and from 1876 a cheese dairy, and in the 20th century an important wafer factory. In 2012, the remaining twelve nuns gave up their monastery and moved to Igny monastery (as did the nuns from La Grâce-Dieu monastery and the Trappist Abbey of Belval ) .
