The Klostersee near Lehnin has a triangular shape and extends between Lehnin and Nahmitz . It covers an area of ​​38  hectares and is on average 29  m above sea level. NN and has a depth of four to six meters in the middle. Geologically, it is probably the residue of a Toteisblocks because, in the surrounding Vistula glaciation deposited, Sander -Hochfläche Zauche is rather very barren and dry and glacial valleys were not included here. It is traversed by the Emster , which comes from the mill pond above . The Emster, a tributary of the Havel , connects the Klostersee with the Netzener See in its further course to the north .

The west bank is partially, the north and east banks are almost completely forested. The south-east bank is built on, there is a nature campsite on the west bank . In addition to signposted hiking trails, the lido on the east bank is worth mentioning, which is laid out on the slope. About 100 meters south of the lido follows the Lehnin sculpture park with partly changing representations, for example in October 2004 with various pumpkin arrangements as a result of the annual Lehnin pumpkin festival; in the photo you can see pumpkins on the pegs in the lake.

Namesake of the water body was that of the second Brandenburg 1180 Margrave I. Otto founded Cistercian monastery Lehnin , which lies a short walk from the south end of the lake.
