Klus (Prättigau)
The Klus (both in the Grisons German and in the Walser German dialect Chlus , outdated Clus , derived from the general geological word Klus ) is the gorge-like entrance to the Prättigau in the canton of Graubünden .
geography
The clus forms the end of the landscape of the Bündner Herrschaft in the north and the five villages in the south to the east. At the same time, it marks the linguistic border between Graubünden German from the Chur Rhine Valley and Walser German from Prättigau.
The Landquart flows through the Klus .
traffic
Individual traffic is routed through a tunnel on Hauptstrasse 28 . At the same time, the train service of the Vereina line Chur - Scuol and the Chur - Davos line of the Rhaetian Railway also run through the mountain. The old cantonal road runs along the Landquart.
In the Klus, below the northern cliff, lie the ruins of Fracstein Castle .
