The Kněžná (German Kneschna , also Knieschna ) is a left tributary of the Bělá in the Czech Republic .

course

The Kněžná rises near Podolí on the western slope of the Pláň (873 m nm) in the Eagle Mountains . On its upper reaches it initially flows to the west, in Podolí it takes a southerly direction at the eastern foot of the Podolský vrch (737 m nm). Polanka is a settlement in its wooded valley. The further course of the Kněžná leads past Mezina, Bukový, the desert Benátky, Poříčí, Prorubky and Lukavice to the southwest into the Eagle Mountains foothills. The location of the extinct village of Benátky in the Kněžnátal is protected as a natural monument Uhřínov-Benátky.

The widening valley floor is settled on the middle reaches of the Kněžná; The villages of Panská Habrová, Městská Habrová and Rychnov nad Kněžnou extend along the stream . From Rychnov nad Kněžnou the railway line Častolovice – Rychnov nad Kněžnou – Solnice follows the course of the brook.

On its lower reaches the Kněžná flows with numerous meanders on the eagle table ( Orlická tabule ) through a shallow, wide valley, on the lean of which are the places Jámy, Bezděkov, Jedlinská Lhotka, Jedlina, Kostelecká Lhotka, Slemeno , Hradisko and Synkov.
