The Knauf Interfer SE , headquartered in Essen, is one of the leading independent distributors, operator and service provider of steel and aluminum in Europe.
history
Originally trading as Stinnes Interfer AG, the company was sold by its parent company at the time, the logistics group Stinnes AG , to the private equity investor Bain Capital together with Brenntag in March 2004 after it was taken over by Deutsche Bahn . He then sold the company, which had meanwhile been renamed Interfer Stahl AG, directly to the current owner family Albrecht Knauf .
Another change of name to Knauf Interfer followed and in June 2008 the conversion to a European Company (SE). Since then the group has operated as Knauf Interfer SE.
