The Knipe Tarn [ naɪp tɑːn ] is a lake in the Lake District , Cumbria , England .
The Knipe Tarn is located south-east of Bowness-on-Windermere . The lake has two unnamed tributaries and no discernible outflow.
The lake has been a Site of Special Scientific Interest since 1987 . It is a medium nutrient lake and offers an unusually large biodiversity for a lake of this type.
