The Knipowitsch Nunatak ( Russian Гора Книповича Gora Knipowitscha , English Knippovich Nunatak ) is a nunatak in the East Antarctic Enderbyland . It rises 6 km north of Mount Underwood in the Nye Mountains .
Aerial photos of the Nunatak were taken in 1957 and 1958 during the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions and in 1962 during a Soviet Antarctic expedition. It is named after the Russian oceanographer Nikolai Michailowitsch Knipowitsch (1862–1939), leader of several expeditions to the Barents Sea .
