Knute Rockne
Knute Kenneth Rockne (born March 4, 1888 in Voss , Norway , † March 31, 1931 in Bazaar , Kansas ) was an American football coach . Many experts consider him the best coach of all time. His record as a coach in 13 years at the University of Notre Dame , which also included the time of the four players of the Four Horsemen of Notre Dame , amounted to 105 wins to just 12 losses and 5 draws, which is an unmatched win rate of today 88.1 percent results. For his accomplishments in college football , he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1951 as one of the first .
Rockne died in a plane crash over Kansas (see Transcontinental and Western Air Flight 5 ) at the age of 43. His life was filmed in 1940 as Knute Rockne, All American with Pat O'Brien and Ronald Reagan in the lead roles.
