Her Kizuna series was originally self-published before Biblos acquired it and expanded it into a magazine series. Kodaka's numerous dōjinshi publications are representative of her personal interests; so she drew u. a. style

The characteristics of Kodaka's easily identifiable drawing style are clear, clean lines, the dynamic representation of movement and a masculine character design. These characteristics distinguish her from many female artists of the Yaoi genre, whose male figures are more oriented towards the androgynous ideal of the Shōjo manga . In fact, Kodaka describes himself in interviews as a shōnen - mangaka who came to girl comics by chance.

While many Yaoi -Manga seek a transfiguring representation of homosexual relations, or they settle in fantasy worlds, to Kodakas main works are characterized by a relatively realistic depiction of homosexuality in Japan and treat a humorous everyday game of hide from society, as well as the coming-out before Family and friends. One of the main locations of her two long series is also the Tokyo district of Shinjuku ni-chōme with its night clubs and gay bars, which she populates with a colorful ensemble of shrill minor characters of all stripes. Another milieu that the author likes to use as a background is the gangster world of the Japanese mafia, the yakuza .
