Kodwo Eshun

Kodwo Eshun (* 1967 in London , United Kingdom ) is a British writer and journalist . In his texts he deals with topics such as “Black Identity”, Afrofuturism and the African diaspora .

life and work

Eshun was born in London in 1967 . He studied English literature at University College of the University of Oxford .

In 1998 his work More Brilliant than the Sun: Adventures in Sonic Fiction appeared , in which Eshun deals with electronic African American music . The German translation by Dietmar Dath Heller als die Sonne: Adventures in Sonic Fiction was published by ID-Verlag in 1999. The album Architectronics, produced with Franz Pomassl , was also released .

Together with Anjalika Sagar , Eshun founded the artist collective The Otolith Group in 2002 . He writes regularly for magazines such as Frieze , iD , The Wire and Sight and Sound . Eshun teaches at Goldsmiths, University of London in the subject Aural And Visual Culture .

His younger brother Ekow Eshun is also a writer.
