Kofi Danning (born March 2, 1991 in Kumasi , Ghana ) is an Australian football player . The attacker has been under contract with A-League club Brisbane Roar since 2011 .
Club career
Born in Ghana, Danning grew up in Canberra, Australia and took his first senior football steps in the ACT Premier League at Canberra FC and the O'Connor Knights. In 2008, a year at the Australian Institute of Sport , a contract offer for the youth team of Sydney FC in the newly founded A-League National Youth League followed . At the beginning of 2009 he was used on the last four match days for the professional team in the A-League . In his second game he scored the 1-0 winner against Wellington Phoenix shortly before the end of the game, another goal followed the following day in the 1-3 loss to Queensland Roar. On February 21, he won with the Sydney youth team by a 2-0 win in the final over Adelaide United, the premiere season of the Youth League.
In the following season, Danning continued to play mainly in the junior team, for the professional team he scored one goal in seven missions. In the play-off games, which Sydney completed by winning the championship, Danning was not used.
National team
After FIFA significantly tightened the eligibility criteria for immigrants without roots in the country in question in mid-2008, it was unclear whether Danning was eligible to play for Australian selection teams. In August 2009 he finally received approval from the World Federation to play for Australia in the future. With the Australian U-20 selection , he then took part in the Junior World Championship in Egypt in September 2009 , but failed with his team in the preliminary round. In the official tournament report, Danning is highlighted as one of three players on his teams and described with the attributes strong, mobile, tireless, good flanks, fast .
