Kolomea local railways

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kolomeaer Lokalbahnen (KLB) were a local railway company in southern Galicia in the Austro-Hungarian Empire .

It was made at the instigation of Dr. Carl Maly , lawyer from Lemberg, Ludwig von Wierzbicki , chief inspector of the Lemberg-Czernowitz-Jassy railway and the industrialist Stanislaus Prus Ritter von Szczepanowski from 1883 and received the concession from the state on December 15, 1885. After the company's articles of association were approved on April 20, 1887, the company "Kolomeaer Lokalbahnen" was established on May 18, 1887 with its seat in Kolomea .

Under their management the following routes existed:

  • Local railway Kolomea – Słoboda rungurska Kopalnia (route length 25.612 km + junction 7.132 km)

The main purpose of the railway was to develop the naphtha deposits in Słoboda rungurska, which were processed in the petroleum refineries in Peczeniżyn and Kolomea. The branch to Kniażdwór served to facilitate the transport of the watermills in this area.

The management of the railway itself was managed until July 1, 1889 and on that day it was transferred to the Imperial and Royal Austrian State Railways .

The line, which was also planned and which should branch off after the bridge over the Prut to Jablonów via Myszyn (Мишин), was no longer realized due to the deteriorating economic situation due to the declining yields of the naphtha deposits.

The project of the Delatyn – Kolomea – Stefanówka local railway was also not implemented by the Kolomea Local Railways, which was then founded as a separate company and built the local railway.

During the First World War, the branch to Kniażdwór was badly devastated and was not rebuilt after the end of the fighting. From 1918 under Polish rule, the railway continued to operate in private hands until it was nationalized on January 1, 1939.

After the Second World War, the area came under Soviet rule, during the fighting during the war, large parts of the railway systems were destroyed or damaged, but the railway was reopened in the spring of 1945. Another branch line to Kowaliwka was opened for coal transportation , the railway became more and more unprofitable and the track systems were in poor condition, so that they were closed on May 15, 1967 and the track systems dismantled.
