The Communist Party of Abkhazia ( Russian: Коммунистическая партия Абхазии / Kommunistitscheskaja partija Abkhazii , or KPA for short) is a party in the Republic of Abkhazia, which is recognized by only a few countries .

history

The KPA was founded in March 1921 with the demand for the creation of a separate Abkhazian Soviet republic. This Abkhazian Soviet Socialist Republic was to be integrated directly into the Soviet Union . The chairman was E. Eschba , who previously initiated a Bolshevik revolutionary committee in Sukhumi in the summer of 1918 . During the Soviet era, the KPA was part of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union .

After the collapse of the Soviet Union and de facto independence as a result of the Georgian-Abkhaz War , the KPA was re-established in 1994 as an independent party.

Even today the KPA has close contacts to communist groups in Russia and other post-Soviet states. She is a member of the Union of Communist Parties - Communist Party of the Soviet Union . Unlike other communist parties in the region, they do not see themselves and Stalin as classics of Marxism-Leninism .
