Kondagaon is a city in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh .
The city is the capital of the Kondagaon district . Kondagaon has the status of a Municipal Council . The city is divided into 18 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census it had 30,921 inhabitants, of which 15,346 were men and 15,575 were women . The literacy rate in 2011 was 79.4% and thus above the national average. Hindus make up the majority of the city's population with a share of around 90%. Muslims form a minority with a share of around 4%. 27.3% of the population belong to the Scheduled Tribes .
