Konrad "Conny" Eickels (born June 11, 1956 in Neuss ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .

Career

Eickels began his career at Fortuna Düsseldorf . In the amateur team , he was first used as a striker in the 1974/75 season of the Niederrhein Association . He was also part of the Fortuna amateur players who became amateur champions in 1977 . This season he scored a sensational 32 goals in 32 games. When the then coach Manfred Krafft went to 1. FC Saarbrücken during the winter break in 1976/77, he followed him into the Bundesliga . Eickels made his debut in the 4-0 defeat on August 6, 1977 against Eintracht Frankfurt , when he came on for Ludwig Schuster in the 83rd minute . During his time with Saarland , he was retrained from a striker to a defensive midfielder. He scored his first goal on matchday seven against Werder Bremen , when Eickels scored to make it 1-1. In his first Bundesliga season, Conny Eickels played 25 games and scored three goals.

In 1980 he moved to Preußen Münster in the 2nd Bundesliga North . He made his debut on the first match day against SC Viktoria Köln in the 1: 3 bankruptcy on August 6, 1980. In the following game Conny was able to achieve his first brace of his professional career in a 3-2 win against Fortuna Köln . For the 1981/82 season he went to SpVgg Fürth after 39 games and six goals for Münster , but he could not prevail; he only played 17 games.

Therefore, Conny Eickels moved to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen for the 1983/84 season . Here he became a regular player and played 163 games in five years, scoring twelve goals, including a brace in the 1985/86 season against the Stuttgarter Kickers (4-1). Since he often received his wages late at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and thus saw no chance to support his family, Conny Eickels ended his professional career at the end of the 1987/88 season at the age of 33. He played his last game on May 19, 1988 in the 3-0 defeat by the Stuttgarter Kickers. Here Eickels received a 69 minutes dismissal . After another season at TuRU Düsseldorf , he finally stopped playing football.
