Konrad Gesselen

Konrad Gesselen (also Konrad von Geismar, Conradus or Konrad Gheßelin, * 1409 ; † 1469 ) from Geismar (Fritzlar) / Hessen enrolled in 1425 and taught at the University of Rostock . Before 1435 he went to Thorn in Prussia, where he is documented in 1435. There he was a schoolmaster and taught astronomy and mathematics . Gesselen was also known in Thorn as a vicar and pastor.

Gesselen's mother is documented in the Thorner Ratsbuch as the owner of a house in the old town of Thorner in St. Annengasse from 1444 to 1465. After her death, a widow's asylum was established in the house.

Gesselen wrote a Cisiojanus , a calendar-based collection of memorabilia for festivals and holy days and their dates, in Low German and also translated the Latin rhyming chronicle of Wigand von Marburg into Low German.
