Konrad Kinzl

Konrad Kinzl (born July 18, 1940 ) is a Canadian ancient historian of Austrian origin.

Konrad Kinzl studied Ancient History, Classics and Archeology at the University of Vienna , where he end of 1967, when Fritz Schachermeyr Dr. phil. received his doctorate . He then worked for half a year as a librarian at the University Library in Vienna . In 1968 he left Austria. In 1969 he went as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa . On July 1, 1971, he moved as Assistant Professor at the Trent University in Peterborough (Ontario) , where he in 1974 to associate professor and in 1981 full professor of Ancient History was appointed. On June 30, 2006 he retired . He also worked as a visiting professor at the Free University of Berlin (1981–1982), at the University of Mannheim (summer semester 2003), and as a visiting scholar at the Universities of Mannheim (2006–2007, 2008) and Freiburg (2005, 2006–2007) .

Kinzl is particularly concerned with Greek history. His main research interests are the archaic and classical eras, historiographical methodology and various forms of government in antiquity. Kinzl publishes his writings mainly in English, partly also in German. He is a lifetime member of the Society for Classical Studies (formerly the American Philological Association), the Mommsen Society, and the Classical Association .
