Konrad Hartls Lebensschicksal is an Austro-Hungarian silent film drama from 1918 with propagandistic undertones, which was produced by Jakob Fleck and Luise and Anton Kolm with Walter Huber in the title role.

Austria in the First World War . The optician Konrad Hartl is drafted into the military and goes to the front. While on patrol, he comes under enemy fire, is wounded and blinded. Back in civil life, he was able to gain a foothold in life again with the help of the War Blind Association and learned the trade of a bookbinder. The state does not abandon him in any other way. He is given a small house, into which Hartl moves with his bride Stephanie, whom he can finally marry.

Production notes

Konrad Hartl's life story was written at the end of 1917 and premiered on February 4, 1918 in the Urania cinema in Vienna. The four-stroke had a length of 1763 and 1800 meters respectively.

The film was used as a promotional film for the Association of the War Blind.
