Konrad Kolb SOCist (born April 29, 1852 in Friesenhofen , † May 21, 1918 in Dernbach ) was a German clergyman, Cistercian and abbot of Marienstatt Abbey from 1898 to 1918.

Life

Konrad Kolb attended the monastery school of Wettingen-Mehrerau Abbey and entered there in 1869. Ordained a priest in 1874, he was a teacher and sub-prefect at the monastery school until 1877. From 1877 to 1888 he was chaplain in the Mariazell-Wurmsbach monastery in Switzerland . 1888 abbot appointed him Maurus Kalkum to Cellerar and 1890 to the Bursar and Librarian. In 1892 he went to Eschenbach Abbey in Switzerland as a confessor, and in 1896 again to Wurmsbach. In 1898 he was elected abbot of Marienstatt Abbey.

Kolb had the new library building built in 1909, which is still in use today . In 1910 he opened an oblate school, which became today's private grammar school Marienstatt . In 1912 he had a new organ installed in the abbey church . During the First World War , he made the gate house available to the Red Cross as a military rest home.

He died in 1918 after 20 years of government.
