Konrad Kreßmann

Konrad Kreßmann (born December 18, 1875 in Gützkow ; † 1943 ) was a German entrepreneur .

The father Carl (I.) Kreßmann, coming from a family of servants and craftsmen, had achieved some prosperity as a master mason in Gützkow. He had seven sons and three daughters, u. a. Carl (II.), The eldest son, Wilhelm and Emil (* 1877).

After finishing school in Gützkow, Konrad Kreßmann did a commercial apprenticeship in Bernburg and Halberstadt on the mediation of his brother Carl and founded with the three o. Brothers in Aschersleben a business. In 1910 Konrad Kreßmann took over the Rudolf Honig company in Schwerin . In 1926 he had the Kressmann department store built in Schwerin. In the mid-1930s he already had around 200 employees.

The brothers remained single and childless except for Wilhelm. His son Carl Kreßmann ( Carl III. ) Ran the honey department store in Schwerin with his uncle Konrad .

On December 18, 1922, his birthday, Konrad donated 25,000 marks for the poor charity in Gützkow. His brother Emil gave another 5,000 marks. In Gützkow a street was named after the Kreßmann brothers. The two became honorary citizens of the city on February 27, 1933 .

Today's textile house Kressmann GmbH & Co. KG in Schwerin is run by family members of the fifth generation.
