Konrad Wegmann

Konrad Wegmann (born December 7, 1932 in Berlin ; † March 11, 2008 in Bochum ) was a political scientist and since 1984 associate professor for Sinology at the Ruhr University in Bochum . He dealt with the human rights issue in China.

Life

After staying in Taiwan in 1963, Wegmann became the personal, German-speaking secretary and advisor to Jiang Weiguo, son of the then President of the Republic of China in Taiwan, Chiang Kaishek, and the adoptive brother of the later President Jiang Jingguo . Wegmann headed the DFG project "Criminal Law in the PR China - Documentation", in which he brought together sinologists and political scientists. On the occasion of his 75th birthday, Martin Woesler organized the symposium “Law and Justice in China” for him at the University of Applied Languages (Munich). Wegmann has a son from his first partnership.

He died on March 11, 2008 in Bochum.
