Konrad Weichberger

Konrad Weichberger (born February 10, 1877 in Weimar , † July 15, 1948 in Weimar) was a German educator and author .

biography

Weichberger was the eldest son of four children of the landscape painter Eduard Weichberger (1843–1913) and Elise Choinanus. After high school he studied at the University of Jena and in Paris and a doctorate Dr. phil. During this time he wrote poems that later attracted attention.

In 1903 he received the post of teacher at the high school on Dechanatstrasse in Bremen . In 1905 he married and had six children. In 1908 his collection of literary texts about Bremen appeared as a guest bed in Bremen . From 1910 to 1912 he was co-editor of the Bremen literary magazine Die Güldenkammer . He continued to write articles on Bremen and its civil society in various places and translated other works. Since 1917 he speculated in the field of astronomy . He wanted Bremen to become an art city . From 1928 to 1929 he published the cultural magazine Die Welle . His teaching methods were also unusual. He endeavored to point out the plight of the working class children, if necessary by appearing barefoot and teaching. In 1930 he was given early retirement. Until 1934 he lived near Bremen in Ottersberg and ran a small publishing house in the Amtshof.

He then moved to Berlin and later to his hometown Weimar. Here he lived in very modest circumstances.
