Konrad von Dressler
Konrad von Dressler (born March 28, 1885 in Schreitlaugken (now the municipality of Pagėgiai ), Memelland ; † November 30, 1955 in Velgen near Ebstorf ) was a German landowner, lawyer and politician.
Life
Dressler studied agricultural science in Göttingen and became a member of the Corps Saxonia there . For family reasons he switched to studying law in Göttingen, Munich, Berlin and Königsberg in Prussia. After passing the state examination and a short period of service as a trainee lawyer, he returned to practical farming on various estates in East Prussia . From 1911 he managed his father's property in Schreitlaugken with 2284 hectares. On January 1, 1914, he took over the entire property as the sole owner. After the Memel area was separated from the German Reich, he was a member of all the Landtag of the Memel Land , was Vice-President and President of the Landtag for ten years and President of the Chamber of Agriculture of the Memel Region for 13 years . In 1934 he was relieved of all political offices by the Lithuanian central government and placed under police supervision, as in their opinion he had put the interests of the Memel countries of German origin above those of Lithuania and was imprisoned in Lithuania for two years after the famous trial in Kovno. Expelled from his homeland in 1945, he last lived in Velgen near Ebstorf, where he held the office of mayor .
