reception

According to its self-portrayal, the platform is committed to "collaborative journalism"; information is collected under Dossier in cooperation with the readership. Jakob Winter stated in the news magazine profil that contrast was working with left-wing populist headlines and that the SPÖ was following the “owned media” trend. Gerold Riedmann describes Contrast as an "advertising website" that looks like a news medium, but spreads "ambiguous advertising messages" on social media channels. According to the political analyst and publicist Peter Plaikner, contrast "is increasingly developing qualitatively as an alternative source of opinion for center-left supporters".

distribution

The content is mainly distributed via social media. Contrast.at has 145,000 fans on Facebook, 16,000 followers on Twitter and 14,000 on Instagram.
