The St. Josef College in Ehingen , also known as Josefinum , is a boarding school in the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese with an episcopal study home , a grammar school convent and a student crèche . Since autumn 2010 there has been a cooperation with the Franz von Sales boys' secondary school of the Catholic Free School Foundation and the St. Josef boarding school.

Episcopal study home

The episcopal study home was founded in 1897. It offers a boarding place for 30 students in grades five to eight. A further 45 boys and girls have been able to cope with their school tasks and take part in leisure activities as day school students under qualified supervision since 1974. They are supported by four educators, including teachers, social and religious educators.

Episcopal High School Convict

The Bischöfliches Konvikt was founded in 1825 together with the local grammar school as a continuation of the school tradition of the Benedictine College Ehingen from 1686. At the beginning there was space for 20 boarding and 20 day students in grades nine to thirteen. At the college there is also a special opportunity to acquire a scholarship . Pupils who want to be admitted to the Konvikt can take the so-called state exam at the beginning of the tenth grade. A partial scholarship is associated with the passed state examination.

Bischöfliches Studienheim and Gymnasialkonvikt, originally two spatially separate institutions, were merged in 1974 under the current name.

The pupils of these two areas attend the public schools of the city of Ehingen or the city of Ulm , secondary and secondary school , grammar school, technical and scientific vocational school , technical and commercial vocational college , vocational high school in Ulm.

Ambrosianum

In 1983 the Ambrosianum theological pre-seminar was relocated from Stuttgart-Sommerrain to Ehingen and integrated into the existing boarding school under the umbrella of the St. Josef College.

In the Ambrosianum, the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese offers 40 young men and 10 young women with general or subject-specific university entrance qualifications the opportunity to acquire the necessary linguistic prerequisites for studying theology or history within one year at the in-house language institute, which is equivalent to a vocational school . These include the great Latinum , Graecum and Hebraicum .

In 2009 the Ambrosianum was relocated to Tübingen.

Student crèche

Finally, in 1993, the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese, in cooperation with the city of Ehingen, set up a school day nursery in its rooms, in which a group of 20 elementary school students are looked after intensively by three employees after school until the late afternoon. Due to funding from the city, this offer is only available to children living in the city of Ehingen.

Boys middle school

For the school year 2010/11, the Franz von Sales secondary school in Obermarchtal opened a boys' secondary school train at the Sankt Josef college. The pedagogical basis is the Marchtaler Plan . The students can either live in the boarding school or attend the school as day students.
