Koos Verbeek

Koos Verbeek (born November 22, 1928 in Rotterdam , † October 2011 ) was a Dutch football player . The midfielder was a champion and cup winner in his home country.

Athletic career

Verbeek made his debut on October 27, 1946 for the competition team of Sparta Rotterdam , for which he played 180 competitive games by October 1958. In 1953 and 1956 he won the regional championship with the club, and the 1956 title qualified the team supervised by coach Denis Neville for the newly established Eredivisie . In 1958 he won with the team at the side of Peet Geel , Rinus Terlouw and Tinus Bosselaar with the KNVB Cup, his first national title in the season 1958/59 - in which he, as a result of a knee injury, but only at the beginning of the season was active - the Dutch championship title followed.

Following his active career, Verbeek Sparta held various positions, including working as a trainer and scout.

His sons Pim and Robert Verbeek were both players at Sparta Rotterdam before starting a coaching career.
