Kop (unit)

Kop or Koppe (for head) was a Dutch grain measure . A distinction must be made between the old and the decimal head.

Old head

Decimal cop

  • 1 head = 50 2/5 Parisian cubic inches = 1 liter
  • ½ Kop = 1 demiliter = 10 Maatje / Mäßchen ( deciliter )
  • 10 Kop = 1 bushel (Dutch) or decaliter .
  • 20 Kop = 1 double shepherd
  • 100 Kop = 1 tired
  • 3000 Kop = 1 load

Old Prussian Kop

Before the introduction of the Prussian measures, the grain measure Kop was also used in Aachen ( Rhine Province ).

  • 1 Kop = 311 4/9 Parisian cubic inches = 6 4/25 liters
  • 4 Kop = 1 barrel
  • 24 Kop = 1 painter
