The Kopaitic Island ( Spanish Isla Kopaitic ) is an island off the west coast of the Trinity Peninsula at the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located 500 m west of Cape Legoupil in the group of Duroch Islands .
Participants of the Second Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1947-1948) named them after Lieutenant Boris Kopaitic O'Neill, who led the team on Greenwich Island ( South Shetland Islands ) on this research trip in 1947 .
