List of domestic dogs

The Slovak Wild Boar Hound (Slovenský kopov) is a breed of dogs from Slovakia recognized by the FCI ( FCI Group 6, Section 1.2, Standard No. 244 )

Origin and history

After the Second World War, hunters from Slovakia and the Czech Republic organized themselves to lead the existing dogs into a pure breed . The aim was to breed a robust, secure orientation hunting dog for hunting black and predators in difficult terrain.

description

At first glance, one could mistake the black game hound for a Doberman hybrid. Despite its obvious similarity, the Doberman did not play a role in the breed setup. The similarity is based on the light and long-legged structure, the color of the short-haired fur, which is usually black with a mahogany-colored to red branding or markings. The dog up to 45 (bitch) or 50 (male) cm in size and 20 kg in weight is related to the neighboring Austrian and German bracken in the Alpine region. The hair is 2 to 5 cm long, moderately coarse, close fitting and dense. The ears are set above the eye line, lie flat on the head, rounded at the bottom, medium-length, black with brown to mahogany-colored markings on the limbs.

Essence

Lively, spirited dog. Manoeuvrable, wildly tough and persistent - not always manageable due to his stubborn, independent way of working. Very family-friendly and fond of children. The dogs are used very successfully in Germany to hunt the wild boar population, which is sometimes overflowing.

use

Hunting dog bred primarily to hunt wild boar and predators .
