The animals usually store the bales in crevices in the rock. No information is available on the reproduction of the animals.

Systematics

The Korean Pfeifhase is assigned as an independent species to the Pfeifhasen (genus Ochotona ) and the subgenus Ochotona . The first scientific description of the species comes from Joel Asaph Allen and Roy Chapman Andrews from 1913 as an independent species Ochotona coreana . For a long time it was regarded as a subspecies of the Northern Pigeon Rabbit ( Ochotona hyperborea ), together with the Manchurian Pigeon Rabbit ( Ochotona mantchurica ) based on molecular biological data of the mitochondrial DNA by Andrei Alexandrowitsch Lissowski in his revision of 2013 and in its processing in the Handbook of the Mammals of the World from 2016 considered a separate species.

Apart from the nominate form , no further subspecies are distinguished.

Hazard and protection
