Korenica is a village on the western edge of the Koreničko polje plain in the Croatian Lika-Senj County . It is located in the Plitvička Jezera municipality in the historical Lika region . The village is 660 m above sea level. Korenica is a transit point and is located at an important crossroads near the Plitvice Lakes .
After the end of the Second World War, the village was renamed Titova Korenica. This renaming was reversed in 1991 after Croatia's state independence.
In the former Yugoslavia (Titova) Korenica represented a separate municipality to which the municipalities Plitvička jezera and Udbina were subordinate. Since 1997 Korenica is no longer an independent municipality, but the seat of the amalgamated municipality Plitvička jezera .
Most of the residents make their living from agriculture or tourism and are mostly employed in the Plitvice Lakes National Park .
Korenica is also the starting point for hikes in the Plješevica Mountains.
