Kornelia Scholz

Kornelia Scholz (* 1953 in Darmstadt-Eberstadt ; † May 2, 1991 in Regensburg ) was a German painter , singer , lyricist and composer . She was the front woman and songwriter of the Neue Deutsche Welle band Jawoll . She sang in a duet with Richard Herberger .

Life

Kornelia Scholz studied painting at the Kunsthochschule Kassel from 1981 to 1986 . In 1981 she founded the Kassel NDW band "Jawoll" with the drummer Matthias Kutschke and the English guitarist Robert Forster during her studies . At first she sang English lyrics. Influenced by Ideal, the petite black-haired musician then wrote the lyrics in German. Kornelia Scholz had commercial success with the songs Taxi , Rendezvous , I'm crazy about you , Auf'm Hacken , Hey come , You you you , Spiegelbild , No time , Glimmer , Videoland , Howl , Lollipops , Pukes , Jam and South off the 1982 album Jawoll .

She appeared in Formula 1 , the ZDF hit parade and Bananas .

In 1986 the band Jawoll broke up. Kornelia Scholz returned to painting. She died of leukemia in Regensburg in 1991 .
