In Germany's cost law , a cost officer is a civil servant of the higher or middle legal service or a comparable employee who is responsible for the "timely, correct and complete accounting of the costs " in judicial proceedings including enforcement cases.

In addition to the Court Fees Act , the Law on Court Fees in Family Matters and the Court and Notary Fees Act , the fulfillment of the duties assigned to him in the divisions of the presidents of the Federal Supreme Court , the Federal Administrative Court , the Federal Fiscal Court , the Federal Patent Court and the Federal Office of Justice as well as the Federal Public Prosecutor at the Federal Supreme Court Tasks are regulated in an administrative regulation of the Federal Ministry of Justice , the disposition of costs .
