Kota Raja is a district ( Kecamatan ) in the Indonesian city ​​of Kupang ( East Nusa Tenggara Province ).

geography

Kota Raja is located in the city of Kupang. In the north is the district of Oebobo , in the east Maulafa , in the south Alak and in the west Kota Lama .

Kota Raja has an area of ​​6.10 km² and rises from the seashore to a height of 250  m above sea level in the south. The district is divided into eight Kelurahan ( German  villages ): Fontein is located in the north-west, Air Nona and Bakunase in the west, Bakunase II in the south, Naikoten I in the west and Nunleu , Kuanino and Naikoten II in the north . Fontein is the smallest of them with 0.33 km², while Naikoten I has 1.08 km². In terms of area size, Bakunase II follows with 1.00 km², Naikoten II with 0.97 km², Airnona with 0.82 km², Bakunase with 0.73 km², Kuanino with 0.66 km² and Nunleu with 0.51 km².

The climate is tropical. Temperatures of up to 35 ° C can be reached. The annual rainfall is 960 mm. Most rain falls in December and January.

The ground consists of rocks and red or white earth. Papyrus , coconut palms and teak trees grow here .

Residents

In 2016, 53,953 people (27,053 men and 26,900 women) lived in Kota Raja. The population density is 8,844.75 inhabitants per square kilometer. In 2010 there were only 47,876 inhabitants. They live in 13,271 households in 175 neighborhoods (Tetangga) .

There are two Catholic churches, 20 Protestant churches, seven mosques and one Hindu temple in Kota Raja.

economy

Various farm animals are kept in Kota Raja: cattle for meat production, water buffalo, horses, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens and ducks. Wet rice is planted on 43 hectares. There are also corn, cassava, water spinach , cabbage, beans, tomatoes, chili, eggplant and spinach and various fruits, such as mangoes, bananas, papayas, avocados, star fruit, guava, apples, jackfruit, Sawo and Soursop (Sirsak) .

Public facilities

Kota Raja has three police stations and 36 security posts, 27 elementary schools, five junior high schools and five senior high schools. Two hospitals, a health center, 30 mother-child centers and seven other facilities take care of health care.
