Kota Lama is a district ( Kecamatan ) in the Indonesian city ​​of Kupang ( East Nusa Tenggara Province ).

geography

Kota Lama is located in the town of Kupang on the south bank of the Kupang Bay . To the south are the districts of Kota Raja and Maulafa , to the east of the Kelapa Lima district and to the west of the Alak district . Kota Lama has an area of ​​3.22 km² and rises from the seashore to a height of 30  m above sea level. The district is divided into ten Kelurahan ( German  villages ): In the northeast are Pasir Panjang and Nefonaek , in the West Air Mata , Bonipoi and Solor , and in the center of death Kisar , Merdeka , Fatubesi , site supervision and Lahi Lai Bissi Kopan (LLBK). Bonipoi is the smallest of them with 0.09 km², while Pasir Panjang I has 0.88 km². In terms of area size, Oeba follows with 0.60 km², Nefonaek with 0.34 km², Air Mata with 0.31 km², Merdeka with 0.25 km², Fatubesi with 0.24 km², LLBK with 0.20 km², Tode Kisar with 0.17 km² and Solor with 0.14 km².

The climate is tropical. Temperatures of up to 35 ° C can be reached. The annual rainfall is 960 mm. Most rain falls in December and January.

Residents

In 2016, 34,238 people (17,236 men and 17,002 women) lived in Kota Lama. The population density is 10,632.92 inhabitants per square kilometer. In 2010 there were 30,196 inhabitants. They live in 8,911 households in 140 neighborhoods (Tetangga) .

In Kota Lama there are three Catholic churches (including the Katedral Kristus Raja ), ten Protestant churches, six mosques, a Buddhist temple and the Hindu temple Pura Oebanantha Kupang .

economy

Wet rice is planted on 364 hectares and dry rice on 29 hectares. There is also corn (427 hectares), peanuts (113 hectares), cassava (156 hectares), sweet potatoes and peas. When fruit is acreage find of mangoes, bananas, papayas, avocados, star fruit, guava, apples and Soursop (Sirsak) . Coconut and palmyra palms can also be found.
