Oebobo is a district ( Kecamatan ) in the Indonesian city ​​of Kupang ( East Nusa Tenggara Province ).

geography

Oebobo is located in the center of the city of Kupang. In the northeast is the Kelapa Lima district , south of the Maulafa district , southwest of the Kota Raja district and northwest of the Kota Lama district .

Oebobo has an area of ​​14.22 km² and rises from the sea shore to a height of 500  m above sea level in the south.

The district is divided into seven Kelurahan ( German  villages ): Liliba occupies the east of the district, in the west are Oetete , Oebobo and Fatululi and in the center are Kayu Putih , Oebufu and Tuak Daun Merah (TDM). Oetete is the smallest of them with 0.30 km², while Liliba has 5.83 km². In terms of area size, Oebufu follows with 1.97 km², Oebobo with 1.86 km², Kayu Putih with 1.57 km², Fatululi with 1.49 km², and Tuak Daun Merah with 1.20 km².

The climate is tropical. Temperatures of up to 35 ° C can be reached. The annual rainfall is 960 mm. Most rain falls in December and January.

The ground consists of rocks and red or white earth. Papyrus , coconut palms and teak trees grow here .

Residents

In 2016, 97,696 people (50,479 men and 47,217 women) lived in Oebobo. The population density is 6870.32 inhabitants per square kilometer. In 2010 there were only 79,675 inhabitants. They live in 21,409 households in 278 neighborhoods (Tetangga) .

In Oebobo there are seven Catholic churches, 71 Protestant churches, 13 mosques and one Hindu temple.

economy

Various farm animals are kept in Oebobo: cattle for meat production, water buffalo, horses, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens and ducks. Wet rice is planted on 183 hectares and dry rice on five hectares. There is also corn (273 hectares), peanuts (58 hectares), peas, cassava (89 hectares), shallots, cabbage, beans, tomatoes, chilli, water spinach (14 hectares), spinach (12 hectares), carrots and eggplants and various Fruits such as mangoes, bananas, papayas, avocados, star fruit, apples, jackfruits and sawo .

Public facilities

In Oebobo there are four police stations, 21 elementary schools, 13 junior high schools and 18 senior high schools. Health care is provided by six hospitals, a polyclinic, two community health centers, five sub-centers, 51 integrated wards and 17 health centers for the elderly.
