Kota Tinggi (the "High City") is a city in Malaysia in the south of the Malay Peninsula , in the state of Johor about 30 km north of Johor Bahru . It is the capital of the district of the same name. The city is located on the Sungai Johor . Despite its name, the city is only a few meters above sea level on a plain and has been inundated over a large area during heavy rain events.
