Rudolf Kotormány (born January 23, 1911 in Temesvár , Austria-Hungary , today Timișoara; † August 2, 1983 ) was a Romanian football player and later coach . He participated in the 1934 FIFA World Cup in part and denied 150 games in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A .
Career as a player
Kotormány began his career in his hometown Timișoara near Chinezul , but switched to local rivals Ripensia Timișoara in 1931 . With Ripensia he was initially unable to participate in the official game operation, as the Romanian football championship was initially reserved for amateurs only. This changed in 1932 with the establishment of the professional league Divizia A , where Kotormány came on September 11, 1932 for his first mission.
Since Ripensia was one of the most successful Romanian clubs in the 1930s, Kotormány came to numerous titles during this time. He was able to win the championship four times and the Romanian Cup twice before the game had to be interrupted in 1941 due to the outbreak of the Second World War.
After the war, Kotormány moved to CFR Timișoara , where he acted as a player-coach, and on November 10, 1946 for the last time in Divizia A was used.
National team
Kotormány played nine games for the Romanian national football team between 1932 and 1938 , but scored no goal. He made his debut on October 16, 1932 against Austria . In 1934, national coach Josef Uridil nominated him for the soccer world championship in Italy and used him in Romania's only game against the eventual runner-up in Czechoslovakia .
Career as a coach
During his playing days, Kotormány worked in the 1946/47 season as a player- coach for CFR Timișoara . In the mid-1950s he was in charge of Metalul Hunedoara .
