The Church of the Coronation of Christ or Church of the Crown of Christ in Straubing, often called the coronation chapel, is a late Gothic church building in Straubing in Lower Bavaria . The building was erected in the 15th century and is a listed building.
The former side church of the parish of St. Peter was consecrated in 1669 . It is questionable whether the church was ever officially secularized .
location
The church is in Straubing 322 m above sea level. NHN on a square-like extension of Schulstrasse, at its confluence with Petersgasse, immediately left in front of the western facade of the Guardian Angel Church .
building
The building is dated to 1446 in the list of monuments. Since the construction of the church goes back to a foundation by Jörg Lerchenfelder in 1486, construction can also be assumed to have started around 1486. The long house in east-west orientation, about ten meters long, has two window axes and a steep gable roof . In the west the roof turret with onion dome sits on the ridge , in the east the drawn-in, five-sided closed choir adjoins. This is axially shifted to the south to make room for a door in the northeast corner of the nave. The Gothic and Baroque interior has largely been lost. There are remains of a baroque coffered ceiling in the nave. In the vaulted cap of the choir, with its strong red ocher net ribs, late Gothic frescoes show tracery paintings made of three passes , four passports and fish bladders . In four fields angels are represented with the instruments of suffering .
Next to the chapel was an infirmary for syphilis . It is unclear whether there was a direct structural connection.
